Why You Should Help Cats...

The Numbers

48% of the 5.4 million animals entering shelters are cats.

While dog intakes are higher than cat intakes, twice as many cats are dying in shelters.

Cats in Michigan need our help!

  • In Michigan, almost 62% of our animal shelters are no-kill;

however, that means more than 38% are not!

  • More than 135,000 animals entered our state shelters in 2019.

  • More than 14,000 dogs and cats were killed

in our state shelters in 2019.

When you adopt a rescue/shelter pet you save two lives -

the one you adopt and the one that can now take its place.

42.7 million U.S. households have a cat, up 15% from 20 years ago.
